Essential Oils adventure!

Hello there long time no talk! It has been a long time since I have posted anything on here and for that I am sorry. I have no excuse except that I have been very lazy and unmotivated, but I feel as though I have gotten my second wind and am ready to get back on track with my life.

So my sister in law has finally talked me into becoming a wellness advocate for Doterra essential oils! I just enrolled today and ordered my very own kit. For those of you that don't know essential oils are AMAZING!!! There are so many different types that help with many different things. I myself have a couple different ones for my vascular problems and to help with liver function. Honestly if there is something wrong that needs fixin' on you, there is most likely an essential oil that can do the trick better than any medications could. I have added the link to my doterra website go check it out!

I am beyond excited to receive my kit and get started on this journey. I have been very neglectful with my health lately and I need to get my butt back on track and take care of myself. Being proactive in ordering this kit is a start to a whole new me I think :) I will check back in with you all once I have my package and share my excitement with you! In the mean time I will try to be posting more on here I promise!

Have a beautiful day and make sure to treat yourselves right! Until next time.....

Creating awareness...

Hey everyone. Today I wanted to share my experience with a blood disease I have called Cryoglobulinema Vasculitis. It is one that not many people know about. I know I had no idea what it was until the doc took a biopsy and found out.

This is a vascular disease and there are a couple different kinds. Mine specifically is one that attacks the small vessels of my legs. Cryo is caused by a presence of abnormal proteins in the blood and when we get cold the proteins become like gel. Which as you can guess is not a good thing. So it is really important for people like me that have cryo to always stay warm. I know that I get cold very easily and when I do my hands, legs, and feel will often go numb or start tingling.

The flare up that you see in the pictures is a typical reaction. Everyone is different in what sets off a flare up. I am still trying to figure mine out, so far I have found that if I stand or sit for long periods of time it seems to be a problem. Also alcohol usually causes me to flare up pretty bad. The pictures are from what my legs look like right now, I am not sure what caused this flare. It can be really painful and the skin is very sensitive. I have had both of my legs covered in these red patches and that is when it's the worst.

I am still trying to find a good way to manage my cryo, but it is hard because there is not much out there to help us. I am currently using essential oils thanks to my Sis in law Becky! They seems to be working pretty well. I also take a warm/hot bath as soon as I can and it helps to sooth the pain and reduce inflammation. Other than that it's pain pills and heating pads ha ha! If you want more information on Cryo please go check out the website at the bottom of the page, and even if you don't want to know more go check it out anyway! As always thank you for reading this and supporting me! I love you guys!

Until next time....

New adventures!

Wow it's been a while since I got on here and spilled my guts! I have some super exciting new things to share with all of you! First off the hubby and I will be going to Reno in a few days woop woop! Can't wait to go do something new and exciting :) We certainly deserve it, he has been working like crazy for too long and I have been doing nothing but schoolwork with only one measly week off for spring break. So I say it's time we go enjoy ourselves a little!

While that is pretty darn awesome I have something even more exciting going on. I just got hired for a new job!!! Gonna start making that money honey! I have never been so excited to start a job EVER. It's a great opportunity for me to get my foot in the medical door for future options. I am starting out as a medical receptionist and scheduler and then once I get my certificate I will be moving up to a Medical Assistant position. How lucky am I? I start Monday and I am so nervous! I have always wanted an office job and I know that sounds weird but I love that stuff. I will let you all know how the first day goes.

Other than that everything here has been pretty normal. The hubby and I have started working out regularly again, I'm gettin' my muscles back finally! I start up school again Tuesday and do that lovely grind again. Just living life one day at a time and enjoying every minute of it. I hope you all are doing the same!

Until next time.....

Loving myself...

So I was driving home from the gym a little bit ago and I was thinking about how amazing I feel lately. Honestly this is the healthiest I have ever been in my life. I feel great! I have (usually) tons of energy, I feel sexy which I normally never do, and my overall being is happy. I just can't stress enough how important it is to treat your body right. I used to never exercise I would maybe go on a walk with the girls once in a while but that was it. I used to eat like shit I mean Mcdonald's and pop tarts all the time not to mention the soda and energy drinks I tortured myself with.

Looking back I'm wishing I would not have ate all that junk. When I met my husband he set me straight. Made me join the gym, which turns out I'm in love with, had me put down the pop tarts and trade all that crap out with good healthy food that still satisfied my cravings. I have him to thank for letting me love myself again. The results of doing something as simple as working out a couple times a week and eating the right foods are incredible. I can literally feel my body thanking me every day and especially now that the hubby and I joined a gym again. FYI Anytime Fitness in Redmond and I'm assuming anywhere else is amazeballs! It's the best gym I have been to and the people there are awesome so I just have to give a little shout out to them.

After the heart failure scare I realized even more how important this life is to me and I will do anything that I can to stay here as long as possible. I have a lot of things I want to do and a lot of love to give to my family, my husband, and my friends. I am dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle and encourage you all to do the same, you will be amazed at how better you feel.

Getting ready for summer!

I was daydreaming about warm summer days and all the fun adventures it brings and then I realized I don't have any shorts to wear! How can you enjoy summer if you don't have any shorts (imagine me saying that in the voice from the Pink Floyd song Another Brick in the Wall) So I went through my things and found that I do indeed have a pair of super cute pink shorts with little sailboats on them, however, they show my bumcheecks a my husband pointed out last year on our beach trip. I also had a pair of skinny jeans that fit funky and did nothing for my booty so I thought hey why not chop those up into some shorts.

For the pink shorts I had to figure out how to make them longer. I just happened to have a pink cami with lace trim hanging around not being used so a little light bulb went off in my noggin and I decided that it would be pretty cute to just sew the lace trim onto the bottom of the shorts. I was right they are awesome and now my cheeks don't show!
With the skinny jeans I just hacked off the legs to the length of shorts I wanted and hemmed them. I also took in the sides because they were huge on me. I am pretty happy with how they turned out although they still do no justice to my booty so they might be laundry day shorts.
So anywho those were my little projects I have been working on the past few weeks on and off between schoolwork and other things. Let me know what you think! Have a great day!

Smith Rock hike

So for Valentine's Day the the hubby, the dog, and I went for a hike at Smith Rock. It was so beautiful out and very warm for a February day in Central Oregon. We didn't go up any of the crazy trails just the simple easy hike mostly because I am a wimp and won't go up the hard ones. Any who I got some really cool pictures and thought some of you might enjoy them. I am looking forward to going again sometime soon! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Allergy dog? The do's and don'ts

Hey there everyone I wanted to talk to you about problems that I have encountered with out little Miah Bear and what we have done about them. She is a white skinned dog that is part Pitbull, that being said they have some of the worst allergies of any dog. With Miah she gets yeast infections in her intestines and it causes her skin to be inflamed and itchy (also very very stinky). So we have tried a ton of different things to try and get rid of the problem and have only been able to dampen it so far. Here are some of the things we have tried so far.

  • Oatmeal shampoo or any anti-itch shampoo. This helps sooth the sore itchy skin and makes her smell better. We have been using a brand we found at Big R but tonight I am going to try a new Burt's Bee's one we got last weekend.
  • Hot spot anti-itch spray. This is like magic! There are a bunch of different ones out there, we like to use a tea tree oil one because it seems to really work. I just got a Burt's Bee's one and all she did was lick it off as soon as I sprayed it on so I took that back today and got the tea tree one we have always used. She hates the taste and so does not lick it off.
  • Switching dog foods a million times! We have literally tried almost everything there is to try for allergy dogs. Recently we have just had her on a rice, meat, and veggie/fruit diet, no dog food at all. We thought it would help but so far we haven't seen much of a result and she has been on this diet for over a month. So we decided to get a new dog food and start mixing it in with her raw diet to see if that helps. I got a brand called CORE today it's almost all fish with some fruit and veggies. I am really hoping that this helps. Also want to note that on the raw diet she has lost quite a bit of weight and the rice goes right through her.
  • Another thing we tried is DinOvite. This is a special blend of vitamins and minerals and stuff that is supposed to help dogs with allergy problems. We used it before and she started getting picky and wouldn't eat it so we stopped using it. Recently we tried it again and it's been two weeks and she is still eating but doesn't seem to be improving at all.
We are at a loss as to what we should do anymore. She has had allergy shots which last about a week, she has had all kinds of allergy medication but I think her body is immune to them now because they don't seem to work at all anymore. She was on Prednisone for a while but I don't like putting her on that due to the side effects it has and the harmful effects on the body. That does work for a couple weeks then we are back to square one again. If you know of anything we can do that we haven't tried yet I would really appreciate the input. Like I said we don't know where to go from here. Hopefully adding this new food will help but I kind of doubt it. Well folks thanks for stopping by and I will be talking to you soon!

Delicious detox drink and yoga class!

Hey there peeps I hope you are having a good Thursday. I know I have been slacking on posting things on here, although I feel like nobody really reads any of my stuff anyway, but today I have something good to share with you. I was looking through Pinterest (yes I am just as addicted as you) and I found this wonderful detox drink that is also great for weight loss.

The drink is super easy and you probably already have everything in your house! It is just hot water, lemon juice (preferably fresh lemon), honey, and cinnamon. How stinkin' easy is that!? I have been drinking this every single day and i'm addicted! This is so delicious and what's even better is that you can drink it cold too so it works as a summer drink as well. This drink is really healthy and fantastic for your body and for me it satisfies the sweet that I crave almost constantly. So that's my wonderful little find as of late, I really hope you try this out and that you enjoy it!

Also I want to mention that last week I took my first yoga class and I LOVE IT!!!! The instructor was amazing. She was fun, but also very helpful and attentive to each of us in the class. I had a wonderful experience with it and will be going back again this Sunday. She teaches class at Fitness 1440 behind Blackbear Diner in Bend. I want to give a big shout out to my friend Mandy who is the one that brought me there. Without her I probably would not have gone to a class anytime soon. So yeah that was a fun new thing that I tried and loved! If you have any fun workout ideas or fun things you do to stay in shape please share I would love to hear from you. Thanks for reading everyone I will talk to you soon!

Pretty pictures

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your day is going as good as mine. I was going through my camera and found a few pictures that turned out really good and I want to share them with you. I have always loved taking pictures and have been trying to learn how to take better ones over the past few years. I think I have a pretty good collection going on and I want to share them with people who I know will also enjoy them. The most beautiful things are found in nature in my opinion. I try and capture this beauty any chance I get. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do!

I love food!

Hey everyone I hope you are enjoying your day! I got up super early today to do a little workout session at home and some nice yoga stretches. I think early morning workouts are going to be a normal things for me now.

Anywho I was in the kitchen yesterday wondering what new and delicious things I could make and I saw two loaves of of bread that just had the butts left. I don't eat them and neither does the hubby so they usually get thrown away now that we don't have chickens to eat them. I hate wasting food so I was trying to figure out what to make with them when suddenly it came to me...croutons! I love those little buggers but they are kinda spendy for good ones. I figured it couldn't be too hard to make so I looked up a couple recipes and kinda mashed my own together. I hope you like this recipe and use it for yourself!

Decide how much you want to make. I used four pieces of the butt end and it make like half a quart sized ziplock baggie. If you want more just cut up more bread. So I cut the bread into little chunks or squares and put them in a medium sized bowl. Then I drizzled about three tablespoons of olive oil (I didn't measure I just kept adding in doses until it looks good and covered). I then added the seasonings: johnny's, garlic powder, salt, pepper, a pinch of chili powder, and Parmesan cheese. I then mixed it all together really well and popped it in the oven at 350 for 25 minutes. DE-FREAKIN-LICIOUS!!

If you like croutons you absolutely have to make this they are so good! I'm starting to really like this whole cooking thing. :)

D.I.Y Hairspray!!

Hey there everyone! I said in my last post that I was going to try and make a couple things. I did it! This morning I got a spray bottle and made some hairspray potion :) Honestly I was skeptical to weather it would work or not, but it's the best working hairspray  I have ever used. My hair stayed put all day even those stubborn little hairs. If you want to see the recipe I used go to I also put 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil for shine and some conditioning. I love it and I recommend it to everyone! Also I want to mention that in my toothpaste recipe I posted I put the wrong amount of coconut oil. It's actually 4 tablespoons not 2. I added more peppermint oil and a little water to mine because it did get hard overnight and now it's fine. I also added honey to make it a little less salty.

Making toothpaste

Hello there! I want to thank everyone who has been checking out this blog, I think it's awesome that you all are interested in my life so thank you for your support.

As you know I have been trying to keep an active lifestyle to stay fit and healthy. For me this is really important because of my health issues. I have had to face obstacles that most people haven't had to. I have been slowly working my way from walking to jogging. It's going good so far and every day I am able to go a little further. Today I ran up and down 20 stairs which may not seem like much but to me it feels amazing. Last summer I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. While in the hospital I couldn't even walk around the hallways until the last couple days. When I got home I was not able to do the things I had once done like lift weights and go on long walks. It killed me to have to take things slow and work back up to where I was before. So now for me to be able to go on a walk for two hours without stopping and to run up and down stairs is a huge deal for me.

So in addition to exercising and eating better I have also been looking at making my own things like healthcare products and beauty products. Last night I made toothpaste! It is so super easy to make, I will be the first to admit that it does not taste that awesome but it is so much better for you than the chemical crap in regular toothpaste. The recipe I used was:

3 tablespoons coconut oil melted
6 teaspoons baking soda
about a half teaspoon organic peppermint flavoring or you could use essential oils. You can have any flavor you want I just prefer mint.

That's it you just mix it up and your good to go. If you try it let me know how it worked out for you. I am going to make my own hairspray and some coconut oil spray for getting rid of frizziness. That's it for today I hope you all have a great day and I will talk to ya later!

Fit chick!

Since moving back to Redmond I have been taking my little Miah bear for walks almost daily on a trail by our house. We love it! It has been so nice for both of us to get out and breath some fresh air...well as fresh as we are going to get in town ha ha! I feel great when we get back, it puts me in such a better mood! I lost about ten pounds when I was in the hospital for five days so i am trying hard to maintain this weight and so far have been doing really well. It's awesome having the body I want. I still have curves and would not change that for anything. Every woman is different and there is no one perfect body type, there is nothing wrong with a little curve nor is there anything wrong with none. It's all in what you are comfortable with and what  you think looks good.

Not ashamed to admit I love my back!
                                                          Finally comfortable in my skin!
